The Tenny Monster: A photo-essay

If you like photographing live performances, Tennyson Napoleon of Sri Lankan metal outfit Stigmata would be my best bet as a subject. Anyone who has watched him for long enough is completely baffled as to how he manages to play some of the most complicated riffs they’ve ever heard live, while the rest of him seems to be having an epileptic fit. Someone once called him the energizer bunny. That he is. And more.

Here are a few pictures I’ve taken of him performing  live with Stigmata over the last year:

THE TERMINATOR: Live at 'We All Die Young', April 2010
Live at the special performance for Ian Wright of the Discovery Channel, May 2010
Live at Psalms of Conscious Martyrdom album launch, June 2010
Live at Hell Bent for Leather, October 2010
Live at Who Killed Rudolph, December 2010
Live at Who Killed Rudolph, December 2010
'Manamana' 😉 Live at Original Sin, March 2011
Live at Psycho Martyrdom, May 2011
Live at Psycho Martyrdom, May 2011
My favourite: it reflects what I've been trying to capture - both the concentration & the chaos in perfect harmony. Live at Psycho Martyrdom, May 2011

  1. Agreed. Watched him for the first time at Psycho Martyrdom 2011 – that boys got some madness. X

  2. One of the most inspiring and down to earth guitarists’ I’ve ever met! He makes complicated, difficult riffs look so simple. A genius indeed!
